Gallery Walk: La Jolla, November 22, 2025
Join me for a guided walk through La Jolla exploring two exhibitions that celebrate the creative partnership of Manny Farber and Patricia Patterson — artists whose work helped define the region’s contemporary art landscape.
I’m hosting a guided gallery walk through La Jolla on Saturday, November 22, from 12:15 – 1:15 PM.
We’ll begin at the La Jolla Historical Society to see Double Bill: The Art of Manny Farber and Patricia Patterson — a thoughtful exhibition exploring the creative partnership of two of San Diego’s most notable artists. The show brings together paintings, sketches, photographs, and archival materials that reflect their years teaching at UC San Diego and living in Leucadia, revealing how their shared environment shaped their distinct artistic voices.
We’ll then walk (about 10 minutes) to Quint Gallery, where Manny Farber: An Up Beat Title offers a focused presentation of the artist’s later works — vibrant still-life compositions that layer text, imagery, and fragments of everyday life. Together, the two exhibitions celebrate a remarkable legacy of observation, collaboration, and artistic exchange in San Diego.
The walk will take about an hour in total. There’s generally 2-hour street parking nearby, and for those who’d like to spend more time exploring, the La Jolla Merchants Association offers a $5 all-day parking option here.
